The idea for this song came during song writing sessions with my then creative partner Cliff Coates in the early 1990's Gregorian. It remained as an idea in a book for about 17 years until we started writing and playing together for 'The SubTles' project. I'd always liked this idea and so picked it up again during a SubTles inspired creative spurt in 2008 Gregorian.
We recorded the backing track in my home studio with drums, bass, guitar (my Rickenbacker) and guide vocal and you can hear that live take on The SubTles SoundCloud here. Later, in 2011 while I was travelling in my Camper Van in France and staying with my French girl friend I overdubbed the rest of the instruments and vocals. Unfortunately I didn't have any monitor speakers, one of the limitations of life on the road, and so did everything on head phones which sounded great at the time but on speakers sounds very 'easy listening' and lacks the punch of the live take.
But it is still very 'SubTles' and in the spirit of that project so I'm going to keep it here until I (maybe) produce a rockier version with proper equipment one day...
